Amazon AWS Bahrain Region Disrupted After Drone Activity in Middle East

Amazon says its cloud services in Bahrain were affected as conflict continues in the region

Amazon says its AWS cloud region in Bahrain has been disrupted following drone activity linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The company confirmed the issue after a Reuters report, marking the second time in a month its operations in the region have been affected.

The disruption is linked to drone activity near the facility, though Amazon has not confirmed whether the data center was directly hit. The company said it is now helping customers move workloads to other AWS regions while recovery efforts continue.

AWS is a key part of Amazon’s business and supports major websites, companies and government systems. Any disruption can impact services that depend on cloud infrastructure.

This is not the first incident.

Earlier this month, AWS facilities in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates were affected by strikes that caused power loss and structural damage. Amazon said recovery could take time due to damage to infrastructure and systems.

The company has not shared how long the current disruption will last. It has also not updated its public status page with full details of the issue so far. The situation shows how global tech infrastructure is being affected by real world conflict.

Cloud systems are designed to be distributed, but events like drone activity and strikes can still disrupt operations in key regions.
