Hacker Claims Breach of Police Tip Platform, 8 Million Records Exposed

police data breach cybersecurity incident

A hacker claims to have breached a major U.S. platform used for police tip reporting. The attacker says more than 8 million confidential tips may have been exposed.

The platform, known as P3 Global Intel, is used by law enforcement and public safety agencies. It is part of safety company Navigate360. The hacker claims to have stolen around 93 gigabytes of data from the system.

According to the attacker, access was gained through social engineering. The hacker said they took control of a customer account and then used a system weakness to extract data. The claims have not been fully verified yet.

A report by Straight Arrow News said some of the leaked data appears to be real. The outlet contacted individuals whose information was included in the dataset. A transparency group also confirmed it received a copy of the data.

This matters because tip platforms are designed to handle sensitive and anonymous reports. If true, the breach could expose personal details of people who shared information with authorities. It may also raise concerns about trust in such systems.

The FBI has not commented on the situation so far. Navigate360 and P3 Global Intel also did not respond to requests for comment at the time of reporting.

Security experts say incidents like this highlight the risks of storing large volumes of sensitive data. Systems that rely on user reports must ensure strong protection and monitoring.

The full impact of the breach is still unclear. More details may emerge as investigators review the claims and data.
