Samsung’s next foldable lineup may include a wider version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a larger battery, according to a new leak. The device could arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 in 2026.
Tipster Digital Chat Station claims the wider Fold variant will feature a battery rated around 4,800 mAh. The phone reportedly uses two battery cells rated at 2,267 mAh and 2,293 mAh.
If accurate, that capacity would exceed the 4,400 mAh battery found in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It would still sit below the battery expected in Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Z TriFold device.
The same leak suggests the phone could feature a 7.6 inch foldable display. While slightly smaller than the Fold 7 screen, the wider aspect ratio may improve video viewing and tablet style apps.
The device is also rumored to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. Camera hardware could include a 200 MP primary sensor, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP telephoto camera.
Separately, leaks about the Galaxy Z Flip 8 suggest Samsung may keep a similar battery capacity as the current model. Reports from GalaxyClub link two battery units to the Flip 8, with a combined rated capacity of about 4,174 mAh.
That would place the typical battery around 4,300 mAh, roughly the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Instead of increasing battery size, Samsung may focus on efficiency improvements through its next generation processors and software optimizations.
Samsung is expected to unveil its next foldable phones during its usual summer launch window in 2026. The lineup could include the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and a wider Fold variant.
The timing may be significant for the foldable market. Apple is widely rumored to be preparing its first foldable iPhone, which could intensify competition in this fast growing segment.
