Tinder Adds Real World Events, Video Speed Dating and More AI Features

Tinder New Updates

Tinder is rolling out a broad set of new features as it tries to bring users back to the app and reduce swipe fatigue. The update includes a new Events tab for in person meetups, a virtual speed dating pilot in Los Angeles, and several AI powered matching and safety tools. Tinder and Match Group say the changes are aimed especially at younger users who want dating to feel more authentic and less repetitive.

One of the biggest additions is the Events tab. Tinder says the feature will enter beta in Los Angeles in late May or early June and will show curated local events such as bowling, pottery classes, raves, and other social meetups. Users will be able to see attendee profiles after an event and swipe on people they may have noticed but did not meet in person.

Tinder is also testing video speed dating in Los Angeles. Photo verified users will be able to join scheduled three minute video chats with potential matches, with the option to extend a conversation if it goes well. The company is pitching the feature as a quick vibe check before people commit to meeting offline.

AI is a major part of the new push. Tinder is expanding its Chemistry feature, which uses questions and optional camera roll analysis to build daily curated match recommendations. The company is also rolling out Learning Mode, which is designed to understand user preferences earlier and surface more relevant matches faster.

Safety updates are included too. Tinder says it is improving tools such as Are You Sure? and Does This Bother You? to better identify harmful or disrespectful messages. Business Insider also reported that Tinder is making Face Check mandatory worldwide in many markets, though not in the EU and UK.

The timing matters for Match Group. The company reported $878 million in Q4 2025 revenue, but total payers fell 5 percent year over year to 13.8 million. That pressure helps explain why Tinder is now pushing harder into live events, AI matching, and new social features in an effort to win back user attention.
